Hi there 👋
Welcome to my website, I'm a 23 year old full stack developer, currently working @ SovTech. I have a passion for all things tech, from development and hacking around, to more hardware related tinkering with Raspberry Pi's and Arduinos. I am self taught and have been working in the industry for a little over 5 years now, but I've been coding for a little longer than that.
My journey started out not with computers but general electronics, mostly RC toys. Always had a knack for tinkering with things, taking them apart figuring out how they work and putting them back together.
Shortly after discovering the beauty of code, I set out on my quest to learn more! Programming tutorials back then were damn scarce but that didn't deter me. YouTube is where I learnt most of what laid the foundation for my programming skills. Unregistered versions of HyperCam 2, Notepad and "Trance - 009 Sound System Dreamscape" were rife! In all my travels though, i've found that this was THE best programming tutorial ever!
Equipped with my new programming skills and about to leave high school to brave the big bad world - I decided to apply for a programming internship, along with universities. I was offered an internship with MIP, a software company that builds systems for the FinTech industry. Here I learnt frontend web and backend development in a language called OpenEdge. Interned for 3 months then stayed on as a developer for 2 and a half years.
Fast forward to 2016, join SovTech and get work on some of the coolest projects ever. Working with tech I enjoy - like GraphQL, Postgres, NodeJS, React, React Native and so many more! Building platforms from web & mobile apps to blockchain applications.
The learning didn't stop with development though, I've applied myself to multiple DevOps duties, such as DB admin on AWS RDS, static site deployments on AWS S3 + Cloudfront + Route53, GraphQL backend deployments using AWS Lambda + AWS Fargate + API Gateway and automating frontend, backend and mobile app deployments with BitBucket pipelines, Travis CI, Bitrise, etc. just to mention a few.
Really excited to see where my journey will take me next 🙌
